Artists Lot @ Evergreen Arts Festival!

All setup and ready for the Evergreen Arts Festival tomorrow & Sunday. Camping out in the lot at old Albertsons with several other artists. Went to dinner with Jerome & his wife Kat & Dave at Taco Bell across the lot. Instead if hanging my shower bottle from the back trailer door, helped Dave (who I met at keystone last weekend) put up his new outdoor shower enclosure. It was great fun – you should have heard/seen us. Included a couple of pics…

Moose on the Trail…

My campsite neighbor invited me on an evening hike near Silverthorn, Colorado. The sun had gone behind the mountain, but I took some quick snapshots along the way…

Re-acquainted with my bike…

Got re-acquainted with my mountain bike (and the ground) today. Just could not unclip with the new shoes ;) Finally found some mountain stream trout – with a bowl of chicken-tortilla soup to start off – YUM!

‘People’s Choice’ Award @ Keystone Blues Festival & Art Show!

Today I was awarded ‘People’s Choice’ at the Keystone Blues Festival & Art Show! I am very happy to receive this recognition so thanks to everyone who voted for me :)
Often have people tell me I am their favorite artists, but I think this is the first show I remember having an ‘official’ peoples choice award. Got a framed certificate and announced on the main stage. Truly honored as this is the second award this year (1st place photography in Frisco, Texas this Spring). Also congratulations to the runner up, I’ll stop in and see your drawings in the morning. Pretty cool – no judges, just the voice of the people ;)

Ahhh – Hot Springs along the River….

Slept in a bit, then finished up the vehicles in the stream. Tried to go shoot an in an old mining area today but the last leg of road was washed out, so settled for the touristy St. Elmos, then took a short hike up to some falls.

On the way back, stopped in at Princeton Springs (apparently one I missed when doing a doing a different hot springs every weekend with my friend Anuja when I was out here in 2001). Took a short swim, and I think I spent over 3 hours just lounging (about to fall asleep) in one of the rock lined pools by the river. I watched a great sunset as the sun went behind a a bluff spewing rays of mist out to the side. Yeh, I thought to grab my camera, but told myself I wouldn’t make it and might lose my pool! ;)

On the way back to the campsite had some great Mexican food and winding down here.
Wondering why haven’t found local trout anywhere yet.

Camping Along the Arkabsas River…

Sitting here on my futon with the door of my utility trailer open to the roaring Arkansas River following a thunderstorm. Eating Dolmas and pita chips after a day of shooting – which started off by a good breakfast with my neighbors and fellow artists from Florida at their campsite beside me.

I was like a kid in a candy store earlier crawling down the bank of a creek, through Poison Ivy and brush. Here, off in the back-roads, lay several old vehicles with water running through and around, moss, spider webs, and overgrowth. BEAUTIFUL! Waiting for little spurts of light through the thick trees and making due with the overcast. A sort of paradise as I step down onto a large boulder to find it give a little – like the top of an old car! :D

Before I descended, the county water commissioner drove by and after I swung my mirror around and moved a large rock to let him pass my truck, we chatted and he told me they were put there originally 30-40 years ago as rural ‘erosion-control’.

After a while, it started to rain, so I headed back into to town for a long walk with an new friend and a bite to eat along the river watching kids float by and kayakers practice. Then when the Sun came out later, I drove back out – but alas by time I arrived, it had gone down behind the mountain. Tomorrow I will go back with my wet shoes and hopefully a little more sun, then maybe off to a mining town.

Alright time to bungy the door and lay down in my sweats for a chilly night…

 Of course, pics later ;)

Tile Coaster Gallery – Up for Viewing….

Now have 64 images available for ceramic tile coasters. 42 of them are old vehicles and the gallery is the best place to see ‘most’ of my old trucks.

Keep in mind these images are derived from the print files so may not look quite right on the screen. Plus there is some bleed for cropping around the sides. I will try to get photos of the actual coasters in the coming weeks, but if you’d like to order based on these images, just let me know. Show pricing applies: $10 each or 4 for $35 (& $8.75 each additional).

Also have several mouse pad designs, but basically any of the coaster designs can go to a mouse pad ;)
